Worship at Five

Join us each Sunday for Worship at Five, 5 p.m. in Founders Hall.

We believe in worshiping with the doors open and the sun streaming in.

We believe that gathering for communion is the holiest part of the week, and that everyone has a place at the table.

We believe in potlucks and playgrounds, in snacks and silliness, in dancing and making a joyful noise.

No matter your age, race, gender, orientation or faith background, we invite you to join our community and share God's abundant grace. PHPC is an open and affirming congregation of the PC(USA).

PHPC is an open and affirming congregation of the PC(USA). We believe that God loves and accepts every part of each of us- no exceptions.

What is the order of worship like?

Worship at 5 follows the reformed worship tradition, very similar to the order we have during our Sunday morning worship services, although some liturgical elements may be explored in new ways.  Each week, the service includes a Call to Worship, Prayer of Confession, Sermon, Offering, and Communion by intinction. From time to time, we also celebrate baptisms and welcome new members.

Who is this service for?

Any and all who prefer to worship God in a different way.  Worship at 5 is an intergenerational and open to young and "tenured" alike, and anyone who is searching for a place to grow in faith. Wherever you are on your journey of faith, you are welcome.

What kind of music is offered?

We sing older hymns and newer tunes, accompanied by piano, guitar, bass, and drums. The musical styles vary from song to song, but you can expect some hand clapping, bluegrass, gospel, and folk-rock. The musical integrity and quality is what we have all come to expect at PHPC. Check out some samples of what the musical will be like:

are children welcome in worship?

Children are always welcome in worship! Grab a worship bag and some snacks, and if your child needs a little more room to wiggle, we have pillows and chairs in the back. After the Children’s Sermon, all kids ages 3 years old through 2nd grade are welcome to join us for a lesson designed just for them. This class is led by two trained volunteers in Room 119. The children that attend will rejoin worship after the sermon. We also offer nursery care in Room 121 for babies and toddlers.

What about Youth?

Absolutely! Every Sunday during the school year, youth (ages 7th- 12th grade) are invited to head over to the Youth House following Worship at 5 for youth group and dinner! We hope you’ll join us for Worship at 5 and then stick around for games, fellowship and a meal together.

Where Should I park and enter?

There is some street parking along Aberdeen in front of Founders. There is also a parking lot on the corner of Preston Rd. and Aberdeen. Park there and walk down the sidewalk along Aberdeen to Founders Hall.

Is the space accessible?

Yes! Look for the handicap signs along Aberdeen for parking. The wheelchair ramp is to the left of the front doors of Founders Hall. Come up the ramp and we can guide you in from there.

Is This Service streamed?

Yes!  We stream live every week on our Facebook page here.
